Laura Benanti, Kristin Chenoweth, Barbara Cook, and Patti LuPone are among the stars set to participate in Celebrate Sondheim, a benefit for the Westport Country Playhouse to be held at the theater on September 25. The show will be directed by John Doyle, who won a Tony Award for his direction of the current revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd (starring LuPone) and whose Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park production of Sondheim’s Company is due on Broadway this fall.

Sondheim served as a summer intern at the famed Playhouse in 1950. Over the course of his career, he has won 11 Tony Awards as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In addition to Company, New York will see a concert staging of his 1971 musical Follies as part of the upcoming City Center Encores! season.

The Playhouse’s current attraction is David Wiltse’s A Marriage Minuet, starring Patricia Kalember. It will be followed later this month by a production of Arthur Miller’s The Archbishop’s Ceiling, starring David Rasche and directed by Gregory Mosher.

Tickets to the benefit are priced at $500 (including a pre-show cocktail party) and $1000-$2000 (including the cocktail party and a post-show dinner). They can be ordered by calling 203-227-5137, ext. 138. For more information, visit www.westportplayhouse.org.
