Bogardus, Groff, Grové, Winther, et al, Set for NYMF Concert of Illyria

Stephen Bogardus, Jeff Edgerton, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Grové, Darren Ritchie, Dan Sharkey, and Michael Winther will star in a special concert reading of Peter Mills’ musical Illyria at 7:30pm on Monday, September 11 at the Lamb’s Theatre (130 West 44th Street). Produced by the Prospect Theatre Company, the event will be directed by Cara Reichel, Prospect’s producing artistic director. The reading is part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF).

Illyria is a musical version of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. The show has been revised since its previous stagings, which include its New York City debut at the Hudson Guild in 2002 and a regional premiere at the the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in 2004. Mills received Drama Desk Award nominations for the score of The Pursuit of Persephone; his other work includes The Alchemists, The Taxi Cabaret, Iron Curtain, and The Flood, which Prospect will present this fall.

Bogardus has starred on Broadway in Falsettos and Love! Valour! Compassion! Edgerton was seen on Broadway in Parade. Groff recently starred Off-Broadway in Spring Awakening and will recreate his leading role of Melchior for the show’s Broadway run this fall. Grové starred in The Pursuit of Persephone and the national tour of The Wizard of Oz. Ritchie’s most recent Broadway appearance was in Dracula, the Musical. Sharkey appeared Off-Broadway in Lone Star Love. Winther’s stage credits include the Broadway production of Mamma Mia! and the Off-Broadway musical Songs From an Unmade Bed, for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination.
