Christopher Innvar, Ginifer King, Debra Jo Rupp, and Tony Award winner Carole Shelley will head the Barrington Stage production of Jean Anouilh’s Ring Round the Moon, to be presented August 10-27 at the company’s new home at 30 Union Street in Pittsfield, Massachussets. The production will be directed by Julianne Boyd, the company’s artistic director.

The show is set in the home of Madame Desmemortes (to be played by Shelley) and the plot focuses on a pair of twins, Hugo and Frederic (to be played by Invaar), who vie for the love of the same young woman, Isabelle (to be played by King). The show was first seen on Broadway in 1950 and then had a star-studded revival in 1999 featuring Marian Seldes, Fritz Weaver, and Frances Conroy. Anouilh’s other plays include The Lark and The Waltz of the Toreadors.

The show’s cast will also include Jordan Charney, Tandy Cronyn, Mark H. Dold, Christa Scott-Reed, John C. Vennema, Rebecca Watson, and Robert Zukerman. The creative team will include Karl Egesti (sets), Elizabeth Flauto (costumes), Scott Pinkney (lights), Randy Hansen (sound), Stephen Terrell (choreography), and Michael Burnet (fight direction).

Innvar’s stage credits include the Off-Broadway musicals Floyd Collins and A New Brain. King appeared last season Off-Broadway in Rope. Rupp will portray Isabelle’s mother. She portrayed Mae in the 1990 Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and is best known for her work as Kitty on the long-running FOX-TV sitcom That ’70 Show. Shelley received the Tony Award for The Elephant Man and was nominated for her work in Absurd Person Singular and Stepping Out. She has spent most of the last two years playing Madame Morrible in the Broadway production and national tour of Wicked.
