John Lithgow to Perform Songs From New Children’s CD at Joe’s Pub

Tony Award winner John Lithgow will perform selections from his soon-to-be-released children’s album Sunny Side of the Street at 11am on Sunday, October 8 at Joe’s Pub (425 Lafayette Street).

The CD’s selections include “Getting to Know You,” “You’ve Gotta Have Pep,” “Inka Dinka Doo,” and “Pick Yourself Up.” The recording, which is set to be released on August 29 by Razor & Tie, features guest appearances by Sherie Rene Scott, Wayne Knight, cabaret singer Maude Maggart, and jazz singer Madeleine Peyroux. In addition to being a well known stage, film, and television actor, Lithgow has released two previous chidren’s albums, Farkle & Friends and Singin’ in the Bathtub, and has authored such children’s books as Carnival of the Animals, I’m a Manatee, and The Remarkable Farkle McBride.

Joe’s Pub has also announced that it will present Speakeasy, a “giant play” authored by Rob Ackerman, Suzanne Bradbeer, Anton Dudley, Brian Keith Jackson, Rajiv Joseph, Laurence Klavan, Carson Kreitzer, Neil LaBute, Theresa Rebeck, Edwin Sanchez, and Sheri Wilner, on October 22, 23 and 24 at 9:30pm. The show will be presented by The Fire Dept., a new company founded by Jessica Blank, Audrey Rosenberg, and Erica Gould, who will direct the show. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Others set to appear at Joe’s in October include singer Capathia Jenkins, now starring in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, with composer Louis Rosen on October 29 at 7pm, and two-time Tony Award nominee Mary Testa on October 29 and 30 at 9:30pm.
