Martin Short to Host Broadway on Broadway on September 10

Tony Award-winner Martin Short will host the 15th annual Broadway on Broadway concert. The free event will be held in Times Square on Sunday, September 10, beginning at 11:30am.

Short is currently starring on Broadway in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. He won a Tony for his performance in Little Me, and received a Tony nomination and a Theater World Award for the musical The Goodbye Girl. He also starred as Leo Bloom in the L.A. production of The Producers. Short’s television credits include SCTV and Saturday Night Live, and he has had major roles in numerous films.

This year’s Broadway on Broadway will feature performances of songs from almost every musical currently running on Broadway, including Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast, The Color Purple, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, The Producers, Rent, Spamalot, Tarzan, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Wedding Singer, and Wicked. There will also be sneak peeks at several shows scheduled to open during the 2006-2007 season, including Company, Les Misérables, High Fidelity, Spring Awakening, Grey Gardens, Jay Johnson: The Two and Only, and The Times They Are A-Changin’.
