Stephanie J. Block will play Elphaba and Annaleigh Ashford will play Glinda in the Broadway production of Wicked, beginning on October 9. They will replace Julia Murney and Kendra Kassebaum, respectively.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s novel, Wicked features a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

Block has starred on Broadway in The Pirate Queen and The Boy From Oz and previously played Elphaba in the show’s national tour. Ashford is currently co-starring on Broadway in Legally Blonde. She understudied the role of Glinda on the national tour.

The cast of Wicked features Carole Shelley (Madame Morrible), Lenny Wolpe (The Wizard), Sebastian Arcelus (Fiyero), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Logan Lipton (Boq), and Steven Skybell (Dr. Dillamond).
