Whoopi Goldberg to Become View‘s New Host in September

Whoopi Goldberg will join the ABC talk show The View as one of its co-hosts beginning on September 4. She joins host-producer Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and Elizabeth Hasselbeck. The show is still reportedly searching for a fifth co-host.

Goldberg received a Drama Desk and Theatre World Award for her 1985 Broadway solo show Whoopi Goldberg. She has also starred on Broadway in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and another solo show Whoopi. She was also a producer of Thoroughly Modern Millie, which won the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Goldberg has won numerous awards during her career including the Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, as well as the Academy Award for Ghost. Her other films include The Color Purple and Sister Act.
