Musical Director Charles Jaffe Has Died

Tony Award nominee Charles Jaffe died at his home in Warminster, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 16. He was 94.

Jaffe received a 1964 Tony nomination as Best Conductor and Musical Director for the Broadway revival of West Side Story. He also worked on that show’s original Broadway production, as well as serving as musical director for the original runs of Fiddler on the Roof and My Fair Lady.

He is survived by his daughter, Elissa Smiley; son-in-law Leonard Smiley; granddaughters Shara Smiley, Ellen Smiley and Robyn Weitzer; and grandson David Weitzer.
