The Broadway show and staged punk-rock concept album American Idiot, which played at the St. James Theatre for a full year in 2010 and 2011, will now be seen in another medium. Broadway Idiot is a documentary that follows Billie Joe Armstrong, front man of American Idiot band Green Day, as he helms the creation of this unique show.

Broadway Idiot is set for theatrical release on October 11 exclusively in New York, followed a North American expansion and VOD release one week later. The film is directed by Dug Hamilton.

American Idiot was directed by Michael Mayer and choreographed by Steven Hoggett. It was a 2010 Tony Award nominee for best musical.
