MCC Theater has announced the lineup for its upcoming PlayLabs reading series, a yearly selection of new plays by members of the company’s Playwrights’ Coalition. This will be the first year the series has been scheduled for the fall. Previous iterations have taken place in the spring.

Actors who are scheduled to participate in the upcoming readings include Tony Award nominee Jeremy Shamos, Patch Darragh, Brett Donaldson, Maxwell Hamilton, Rachel Lee, Christopher McLinden, Deirdre O’Connell, and Shannon Sullivan.

PlayLabs gives audiences a first look at new plays by a group of notable emerging playwrights as well as the opportunity to join in post-show conversations that aid in the plays’ development. Participating playwrights are selected from MCC’s Playwrights’ Coalition, a diverse group of writers supported by MCC.

MCC is committed to developing and producing new works through its annual season of premieres, literary development programs for emerging writers, and education programs. Every year the organization provides New York City high school students with the opportunity to find their own unique voices through the creation and performance of original theater pieces.
