Oscar nominee Debra Winger and her husband, Arliss Howard, will star in a reading of a new radio play version of Lysistrata, written and directed by Arthur Yorinks, on Sunday, October 8 at the Henry Street Settlement’s Abrons Arts Center (466 Grand Street). Admission to the show is free, but tickets are required.

The production will also feature Ivy Austin, Karen Kandel, Richard Muenz, Ellen Lauren, Alice Playten, and Steven Rattazzi, and will feature a special appearance by jazz musician Michael Brecker. The radio play is based on Aristophanes’ classic work about a group of Greek women who withhold sex from their husbands to protest a war.

The show will kick off @7: The Henry Street Series from the Night Kitchen Radio Theater, which will present hour-long performances to be recorded live for subsequent broadcast on XM Satellite Radio and public radio stations around the country. Performances will take place every other Sunday; future productions in the series will include adaptations of Metamorphosis, Bleak House, and The Portrait.
