Hershey Felder’s Beethoven to Debut in Chicago

Hershey Felder’s newest work Beethoven, will begin performances on February 9, 2007 at Chicago’s Royal George Theater. The new work, which focuses on a little known story about the German-born composer Ludwig von Beethoven, will be directed by Joel Zwick.

The piece is being called the first movement of Felder’s “Composer Sonata,” which also consists of the already-produced Monseiur Chopin and George Gershwin Alone. Felder is currently performing both of those pieces at San Diego’s Old Globe Theater.

Zwick has directed both of Felder’s previous plays. He also directed, choreographed, and starred in the 1975 Broadway musical Dance With Me, for which he received a Tony Award nomination for his choreography. In addition, his many film and television credits include My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Elvis Has Left The Building.
