Cruz, Kaufman, Miranda, et al. to Be Honored at HOLA Awards

Playwright/director Moises Kaufman will be among the honorees at the Eighth Annual HOLA Awards, to be held on Monday, September 24 at the Players Club.

Kaufman, the author of 33 Variations and The Laramie Project (with members of his Tectonic Theater Project), will receive the Raul Julia Founders Award, Pilar Rioja, the legendary Flamenco dancer, will receive the group’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Other honorees will include Hollywood executive Manny Jimenez, television newscasters Pablo Guzman and Denisse Oller, Teatro LA TEA, the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, and TeatroStageFest.

Winners in 11 other categories include the musical In The Heights, along with its star and co-author Lin-Manuel Miranda, actress Olga Merediz, and co-author Quiara Alegria Hudes. Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz will also be honored for his play, Lorca con un vestido verde.
