Broadway’s Promises, Promises with Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth to Close January 2

The Broadway revival of Promises, Promises, playing at the Broadway Theatre, will conclude a nine-month run on Sunday, January 2.

Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes will now stay with the show through its closing, as will Molly Shannon, who takes over the role of Marge MacDougall on October 12 from Tony Award winner Katie Finneran, who is leaving due to her pregnancy.

Due to prior commitments, Chenoweth will not perform December 29-January 1; she is also on vacation from October 15 through the matinee performance on October 27.

The musical features a score by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and includes such hits as the title song, “Knowing When to Leave” and “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again.” For Rob Ashford’s new production, two songs have been added to the show: “Say A Little Prayer” and “A House is Not a Home.”

The company also features Tony Goldwyn (J.D. Sheldrake), Brooks Ashmanskas (Mr. Dobitch), Dick Latessa (Dr. Dreyfuss), Peter Benson (Mr. Kirkeby), Sean Martin Hingston (Mr. Eichelberger), and Ken Land (Jesse Vanderhof)., and Helen Anker (Miss Olson).

The ensemble features Cameron Adams, Ashley Amber, Wendi Bergamini, Nikki Renee Daniels, Simone De La Rue, Sarah Jane Everman, Chelsea Krombach, Keith Kuhl, Marty Lawson, Ian Liberto, Matt Loehr, Mayumi Miguel, Brian O’Brien, Sarah O’Gleby, Adam Perry, Megan Sikora, Matt Wall, Ryan Watkinson, and Kristen Beth Williams.

The creative team includes scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Bruce Pask, lighting designer Donald Holder, and sound designer by Brian Ronan. Orchestrations are by Jonathan Tunick, with music direction by Phil Reno, and dance music arrangements by David Chase.
