Cate Blanchett, Tim Minchin, Richard Roxburgh, Hugo Weaving Set for New Sydney Theatre Company Season

Sydney Theatre Company’s upcoming season will feature performances by stage and screen favorites Cate Blanchett, Richard Roxburgh, and Hugo Weaving, as well as plays by Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet, George Bernard Shaw, and Tom Stoppard.

Academy Award-winner Blanchett and Isabelle Huppert will star in Benedict Andrews and Andrew Upton’s new translation of Genet’s The Maids, running June 4-July 20. Weaving and Roxburgh will reunite with their recent Uncle Vanya director Tamás Ascher to star as Vladimir and Estragon in Beckett’s Waiting for Godot, running November 12-December 7.

Tim Minchin, composer/lyricist of the upcoming Broadway musical Matilda, will join Toby Schmitz in Simon Phillips’ production of Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, running August 6-September 7.

Additional productions include Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession, Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and a stage adaptation of Kate Grenville’s novel The Secret River by Andrew Bovell.
