Opening Night

Charles Busch, Julie Halston, Jeremy Kushnier Celebrate Opening of Forbidden Broadway: Alive & Kicking

The newest version of Gerard Alessandrini’s Forbidden Broadway, titled Alive & Kicking, celebrated its opening night on Thursday, September 6 with a post-performance party at Vice Versa Restaurant. The production, co-directed by Alessandrini and Phillip George, runs at the 47th Street Theatre.

Natalie Charle Ellis, Scott Richard Foster, Jenny Lee Stern, and Marcus Stevens star in the musical revue, which lovingly pokes fun at the current and recent crop of Broadway musicals, from Once to Evita to Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. David Caldwell serves as musical director and pianist. The production’s understudies are Gina Kreiezmar and William Selby.

Guests at the opening night party included Stern’s husband, actor Jeremy Kushnier, playwright Charles Busch, actress Julie Halston, Menier Chocolate Factory artistic director David Babani, and Forbidden Broadway alums Fred Barton, Christina Bianco, Nora Mae Lyng, Jeanne Montano, and Christine Pedi.
