Virginia’s Signature Postpones Into the Woods; Adds Assassins to Season

A delay in construction of Signature Theater’s new complex has caused the Arlington, Virginia based company to postpone its planned production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods.

That award-winning musical will now open Signature’s new home in the summer of 2006. Meanwhile, Sondheim’s Assassins will now be presented March 28-May 14 in the theater’s current home at 3806 South Four Mile Run Drive. It will be followed by a production of Julie Marie Myatt’s comedy The Sex Habits of American Women, June 6-July 16, starring Helen Carey and Rick Foucheux.

Signature’s new complex will include a 299-seat black box mainstage theater and a 99-seat black box “Stage Two”, along with rehearsal/classroom spaces, scenery and costume shops, meeting spaces, and a street-accesible box office. It was originally scheduled to be completed in May.
