Tom Hewitt to Join Broadway’s Chicago November 3

Tom Hewitt will play Billy Flynn in the Broadway company of Chicago, performing at the Ambassador Theater, beginning November 3. As previously announced, Charlotte d’Amboise will join the cast the same date as Roxie Hart. They replace Tom Wopat and Michelle DeJean, who will play their final performances November 2.

Chicago features a score by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb, including such hits as “All That Jazz,” “Mister Cellophane,” “Razzle Dazzle,” and “Nowadays.” The production is directed by Walter Bobbie with choreography by Ann Reinking. The musical won six 1997 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.

The long-running musical also currently features Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, and Carol Woods as Matron “Mama” Morton. As previously announced, Terra C. MacLeod will appear as Velma Kelly for one week, October 27-November 2, prior to joining Wopat to kick off the tenth national tour of Chicago.

Hewitt received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for The Rocky Horror Show. His other Broadway credits include Dracula, The Musical; The Boys form Syracuse; Disney’s The Lion King; School for Scandal and The Sisters Rosenzweig.
