Emmy Award-winner America Ferrera will lead the cast of Laura Marks’ Bethany, a production of Women’s Project Theater, according to The New York Times. Gaye Taylor Upchurch directs the dark comedy, which runs January 11-February 17 at New York City Center Stage II.

Bethany, which won the Leah Ryan Prize for Emerging Women Writers, is set in a foreclosure-plagued American suburb and follows a young saleswoman who will do whatever it takes to put her life back in order.

Additional casting and information will be announced in the future.

Ferrera has performed on stage in Chicago, Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, as well as a number of 24 Hour Plays benefits. She is perhaps best known for her Emmy-winning turn as Betty Suarez on the ABC series Ugly Betty.
