Ian McKellen Among Honorees at Christopher Meloni-Hosted Make Believe on Broadway

Sir Ian McKellen will be honored at the 13th annual Make Believe on Broadway gala, to be hosted by stage and screen star Christopher Meloni of Law & Order: SVU and Oz fame. The event will be held at The Bernard B. Jacobs Theater on Monday, November 5 at 7pm.

McKellen won Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Amadeus, and received the Drama Desk and a Tony nomination for Ian McKellen: Acting Shakespeare. He’s received Oscar nominations for Gods and Monsters and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and he’ll be reprising the role of Gandalf which he played in the latter film for the upcoming Hobbit trilogy.

Guy Chiarello and Petra Nemcova will also be honored, while special guests will include such Broadway stars as Matthew Broderick, Ashley Brown, and Norm Lewis.

Additional participants in the evening will be Moya Angela, Derrick Baskin, David Bryan, Chevonne, Trevon Davis, Stephanie Gibson, Jay Johnson, Marla Mindelle, John Eric Parker, Seth Rudetsky, Ken Robinson, Antoine L. Smith, Jason Michael Snow, Alysha Umphress, Broadway Kids Care and New York City Gay Men’s Chorus.

The evening benefits Only Make Believe, a non-profit that brings the magic of theater to children in hospitals and care facilities.
