This May Be the Real Cast List for the Into the Woods Film

We’ve seen this floating around the interwebs and figured it was just a dream cast list cooked up by a theater geek blogger with a love of bold typography.

Which is why we nearly collapsed like the 2007 New York Mets when we saw a REAL copy of–like, on paper–the same list in the arms of one of the “cast members” at an industry event on October 1st.

In case you don’t have your glasses, the list includes Nina Arianda (Baker’s Wife), Christine Baranski (Stepmother), Tammy Blanchard (Florinda), Victoria Clark (Cinderella’s Mother/Granny/Giant), James Corden (Baker), Ivan Hernandez (Wolf), Megan Hilty (Lucinda), Cheyenne Jackson (Rapunzel’s Prince), Allison Janney (Jack’s Mother), Anna Kendrick (Cinderella), Michael McGrath (Steward/Baker’s Father), Donna Murphy (Witch), Laura Osnes (Rapunzel), Taylor Trensch (Jack), Casey Whyland (Little Red Riding Hood), and Patrick Wilson (Cinderella’s Prince), with David Garrison as the Screenplay Narrator.

It was a relief to see Johnny Depp and Helena Bohnam Carter were nowhere near this one. Not even as ushers.

Casting and the film are speculative, of course. An industry reading cast rarely makes it to the final product completely intact, and the only official announcement so far has been that Rob Marshall is directing. Press reps have not responded to inquires about the reading. But James Corden WAS in town all the way from London yesterday, Nina Arianda’s career features more and more film work, and a Monday reading means working folks like Michael McGrath had the time off to participate.
