Playwright Douglas Carter Beane, author of the new Broadway hit The Little Dog Laughed, will speak as part of The Dramatists Guild of America’s Seminar Series at 5:30pm on Tuesday, November 21 at the Guild’s office (1501 Broadway, Suite 710). The event is free and open to the public.

The Little Dog Laughed, which officially opened at the Cort Theatre on Monday, stars Julie White and Tom Everett Scott. It’s a comedy about a Hollywood film star who considers revealing his homosexuality, much to the chagrin of his agent. Beane’s other plays include As Bees in Honey Drown, The Country Club, and The Big Time. He is the artistic director of the New York theater collective Drama Dept.

Beane also wrote the screenplay for To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, which starred Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo, as well as the screen version of his play Advice from a Caterpillar.
