Memorial Service for Lovette George Set for November 6

A public memorial service for actress Lovette George, who died on September 6, will be held at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi Newhouse Theater at 6:30pm on Monday, November 6.

Audra McDonald, Judy Blazer, Norm Lewis, Gerry McIntryre, Michael John LaChiusa, and Graciela Daniele will participate in the memorial, which will feature performances and readings. At the memorial, it will be formally announced that the National Foundation for Achievement in the Arts has established an award in George’s name, which will be given annually to a high school senior who is a national finalist in the NFAA’s Arts Recognition and Talent Search program.

During her career, George appeared in three Broadway shows: Uptown…It’s Hot, Carousel, and Marie Christine. She also starred Off-Broadway in such shows as Eating Raoul, The Green Heart, A New Brain, Requiem for William, and The Musical of Musicals: The Musical, for which she received a Drama Desk nomination.
