Richard Bekins, Peter Benson, William Connell, and Terry Laymon will join Obie Award winner Lisa Emery in the Keen Company’s world premiere production of David Hay’s The Maddening Truth, to run January 15-February 23. The production, which will open officially on January 30, will be directed by Carl Forsman, the company’s artistic director.

The Maddening Truth concerns the desperate attempt by journalist Martha Gellhorn, who was Ernest Hemingway’s third wife, to write a novel when she was in her mid-60s, while The Conscientious Objector explores Dr. Martin Luther King’s role in the anti-war movement.

Forsman’s many directorial credits include Everythings Turning into Beautiful, Sin: A Cardinal Deposed, Theophilus North, The Voice of the Turtle, and The Good Thief. He is also the artistic director of the Dorset Theater Festival in Vermont.

Emery most recently appeared in E.S.T.’s production of Lucy. She has starred on Broadway in The Smell of the Kill, The Women, Present Laughter and Burn This. Emery received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Abigail’s Party and Obie Awards for Iron and Curtains.
