High School Musical National Tour to Play San Francisco

The national tour of Disney’s High School Musical, the stage version of the popular television film about two teenagers trying to get the lead in their school show, will play San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre, April 15-27.

The production is directed by Jeff Calhoun, with choreography by Lisa Stevens. It has a book by David Simpatico, based on the screenplay by Peter Barsochinni. The score features the film’s hits, including “Breaking Free” and “Start of Something New,” plus two new songs created exclusively for the stage production. The creative team also includes Kenneth Foy (sets), Wade Laboissonniere (costumes), Kenneth Billington (lighting), Duncan Robert Edwards (sound), and Bryan Louiselle (music supervision)

The cast of 34 is led by John Jeffrey Martin as Troy Bolton, Arielle Jacobs as Gabriella Montez, Shakiem Evans as Chad Danforth, Shaullanda LaCombe as Taylor McKessie, Bobby List as Ryan Evans, Olivia Oguma as Kelsi Nielson, Chandra Lee Schwartz as Sharpay Evans, Ron Bohmer as Coach Bolton, and Ellen Harvey as Ms. Darbus.
