Theatre World Award winner and film star Molly Ringwald will release her debut CD, Except…Sometimes, on Concord Records on April 9. In addition, she will play Manhattan nightspot 54 Below on January 15-16, and later tour additional cities.

The CD will consist of 10 selections including Stephen Sondheim’s “Sooner or Later” (from Dick Tracy), Frank Loesser’s “I Believe in You” (from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), and Lionel Bart’s “Where Is Love?” (from Oliver), as well as (wait for it) “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” from Ringwald’s hit film, The Breakfast Club. The CD is produced by Clayton Smith, who also plays piano, and feature Clayton Cameron on drums, Allen Mezquida on alto saxophone, and Trevor Ware on bass.

Ringwald received a Theatre World Award for the off-Broadway production of Horton Foote’s Lily Dale. She has appeared on Broadway in Cabaret and Enchanted April, and her other stage credits include How I Learned to Drive, Salome, When Harry Met Sally, Tick Tick… Boom, and Modern Orthodox.

She currently stars on ABC Family’s The Secret Life of an American Teenager, and her many film and television credits include Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Tempest, and Betsy’s Wedding. Ringwald also recently released a novel, When It Happens to You.
