In the Heights‘ original Broadway and national tour cast members will sing in a one-night concert production of In The Heights on February 11 at the United Palace of Cultural Arts in Washington Heights. The aptly named IN THE HEIGHTS: IN CONCERT will feature performances by Tony Award winner actor and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony Award winner Karen Olivo (West Side Story), Drama Desk Award winner Christopher Jackson (Memphis), Tony Award nominee Olga Merediz (Mamma Mia!), Drama Desk Award winner Mandy Gonzalez (Wicked), Tony Award nominee Robin De Jesús (La Cage aux Folles), and Drama Desk Award winner Janet Dacal (Wonderland).
The concert is part of the Broadway League’s Viva Broadway initiative, an audience development partnership with the Hispanic community to help bridge the world of traditional Broadway audiences with Latino audiences. Ticket sales will benefit Washington Heights arts programs as well as the Broadway League’s Family First Nights, which aims to encourage at-risk families to attend theater.
In The Heights is a musical focusing on the tight-knit community in Manhattan’s Washington Heights and the hopes of the neighborhood’s three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition.
