On the Third Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me: 3 Stark Sands

Broadway’s most war injury-prone cutie pie lands under your tree (and on the big screen) this holiday season.

While there’s truly only one Stark Sands, the two-time Tony Award nominee has appeared on Broadway three times: Journey’s End (2007), American Idiot (2010), and Kinky Boots (2013). As you can see from the production photos below, he was boyishly handsome in every show, even when he was dying in a trench and covered in stage blood for Journey’s End…or convalescing in American Idiot. (What’s up with trying to kill Stark Sands at war, Broadway? Why do you have to play with our emotions like that?) SPOILER ALERT: Stark Sands emerges from Kinky Boots relatively unscathed, despite his regular close encounters with industrial equipment and 7" stilettos.

Clearly, most Broadway aficionados would be pleased as punch if their true love gave them the gift of Stark Sands for Christmas. While he’s already taken (sorry, ladies and gents), you can do the next best thing by going to see him in the Coen Brothers’ latest film, Inside Llewyn Davis, in which he plays a young folk singer named Troy Nelson. You can see him cradling an adorable kitty cat in the opening moments of the trailer:
