Rainy Day Productions will present a reading of Jean Giebel's new drama Chasing the River on October 19 and 20. Karen Carpenter directs the work, which is produced in association with Aaron Grant Theatrical.

Set in a small town in Pennsylvania, Chasing the River follows an ex-con as she returns to the scene of the horrible events that changed the course of her life forever. Reunions and revelations force her to face the truth about her past, and give her a chance to reclaim her future.

The company will be made up of Madeleine Martin (August: Osage County), Annie Golden (Violet), Carolyn McCormick (The Open House), E.J. Bonilla (Guiding Light), Deborah Rayne, and Matt Walton.

Giebel is a playwright and director who currently serves as a professor of drama at Hofstra University. Chasing the River is her first original full-length play. Carpenter directed the long-running off-Broadway production of Love, Loss and What I Wore.
