British stage legends including Jeremy Irons, Lesley Manville, and Antony Sher will play Brooklyn Academy of Music this spring.

Irons and Manville, as previously announced, will star in a transfer of the Bristol Old Vic production of Eugene O'Neill's Long Day’s Journey Into Night, running May 8-27 at the Harvey Theatre. Directed by Richard Eyre, the drama features the pair as James and Mary Tyrone, alongside Matthew Beard (Edmund Tyrone), Rory Keenan (James Tyrone Jr.), and Jessica Regan (Cathleen). The design team includes Rob Howell (sets and costumes), Peter Mumford (lighting), and John Leonard (sound).

Sher will take on the titanic role of Lear in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of King Lear, directed by RSC artistic leader Gregory Doran. Running April 7-29, the production has sets by Niki Turner, lighting by Tim Mitchell, music by Ilona Sekacz, sound by Jonathan Ruddick, movement by Michael Ashcroft, and fight choreography by Bret Yount.

The BAM theater season at the Harvey Theatre concludes with Fredrich Schiller's Love and Intrigue, presented by the Maly Drama Theatre of St. Petersburg, Russia. Directed and adapted by Lev Dodin, the work features sets and costumes by Alexander Borovsky, lighting by Damir Ismagilov, music by Ludwig van Beethoven, and additional text by Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Otto von Bismarck.
