Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured the licensing rights to the recent Broadway musical The Bridges of Madison County. The cult favorite, with a Tony-winning score by Jason Robert Brown and a book by Pulitzer winner Marsha Norman, can now be acquired and presented by high schools, universities, and community theaters worldwide.

Inspired by the novel by Robert James Waller, The Bridges of Madison County explores the intense romantic relationship between Francesca Johnson, an Italian woman who married an American soldier and became his farm wife, and Robert Kincaid, the National Geographic photographer who shows up lost on her doorstep while her family is at the State Fair. The Broadway production, directed by Bartlett Sher, starred Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale.

After playing 100 performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, Bridges closed on May 18, 2014. A national tour will begin next fall.

It's finally legal for you to perform the soaring and romantic "One Second and a Million Miles" in your church basement or local Elks Lodge.
