Chita Rivera to Make Her Debut as a Headliner at Carnegie Hall

Alan Cumming and Andy Karl will guest star with the two-time Tony winner in ”Chita: Nowadays”.

Two-time Tony winner Chita Rivera (The Visit) will take the stage at Carnegie Hall on November 7 in Chita: Nowadays. The show will mark the first time Rivera has headlined the iconic venue. Rivera's longtime collaborator Graciela Daniele will direct with music director Michael Croiter leading a 15-piece band.

Chita: Nowadays will feature signature favorites, new selections, and special collaborations, plus a unique version of the West Side Story classic "America." Rivera will also welcome guest stars Alan Cumming and Andy Karl, with other leading men to be announced.

"I’m absolutely thrilled to play one of the most prestigious venues in the world, Carnegie Hall. We’re going to have a ball!" said Rivera in a statement.

Chita Rivera has won two Tony Awards for Best Leading Actress in a Musical and received eight additional Tony nominations. She recently starred in Broadway's The Visit, the final John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Terrence McNally collaboration. Highlights from her career also include starring roles in Bye Bye Birdie, The Rink, Chicago, and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Rivera was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2009 and received the Kennedy Center Honor in 2002.
