Set Designer Derek McLane to Receive 2018 Order of the Golden Phoenix

The award is given by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770.

Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Institute of 1770 has announced that Tony- and two-time Emmy Award-winning set designer Derek McLane will be the 2018 recipient of the Order of the Golden Sphinx award. He will be presented with the award at the annual Order of the Golden Sphinx gala at the Pierre on April 16.

The Order of the Golden Sphinx is the highest honor bestowed by the Hasty Pudding Institute, a legendary Harvard social club. It is given to people in the entertainment industry to recognize their extraordinary contributions to the performing arts.

McLane has designed sets for more than 350 productions around the world. Among his many stage credits are Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and Children of a Lesser God on Broadway, and Jerry Springer — The Opera off-Broadway.
