Katie Finneran and Maulik Pancholy to Replace Main Cast Members in It's Only a Play

Both performers will step into their roles on January 7.

Two-time Tony winner Katie Finneran (Promises, Promises) and screen favorite Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock) are set to join the Broadway production of Terrence McNally's It's Only a Play on January 7.

Finneran will take over the role of Julia Budder from Megan Mullally while Pancholy replaces Rupert Grint as Frank Finger. The new cast members join the previously announced Martin Short, who also begins performances on January 7, replacing Nathan Lane in the role of James Wicker.

The full cast of It's Only a Play also includes F. Murray Abraham, Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, and Micah Stock, all of whom remain in their roles. Jack O’Brien directs.

It's Only a Play follows a group of theater professionals as they await the reviews of a new Broadway production at the show's opening-night party. The production officially opened on October 9.

The production will run through March 29. However, beginning January 23, the comedy will move from the Schoenfeld Theatre to the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre following the closure of Once. It's Only a Play will have its final performance at the Schoenfeld on January 18.
