Flashback Friday: Paul Nolan, Josh Young, Chilina Kennedy in Jesus Christ Superstar

Before NBC’s live broadcast, look back on the musical’s 2012 revival.

With Jesus Christ Superstar heading to NBC as a live broadcast in 2018, we thought it was time to turn back the clock to 2012, when Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's classic rock opera was last seen on Broadway. The Tony-nominated production, which originated at Canada's Stratford Shakespeare Festival, featured a cast of three relative unknowns who, in the ensuing years, have become bona fide stars: Paul Alexander Nolan (Escape to Margaritaville) as Jesus, Josh Young (The Secret Garden), and Chilina Kennedy (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical). The company also featured stage vets Tom Hewitt, Bruce Dow, and Jeremy Kushnier, among others. Check out a montage from the show below:
