Josh Groban to Receive Sir Ian McKellen Award at Make Believe on Broadway Gala

Josh Groban, pop crooner and star of Broadway's Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, will be awarded the Sir Ian McKellen Award for philanthropy and activism at this year's Make Believe on Broadway gala. Only Make Believe's annual event will be hosted by Saturday Night Live's Cecily Strong at the Schoenfeld Theatre on November 6.

The gala will be directed by Broadway vets Joe DiPietro and Brad Oscar, with musical direction by Patrick Vaccariello. The list of performers is set to include Thomas Roberts, Lena Hall, Sierra Boggess, Betsy Wolfe, and Siobhan Dillon, Montego Glover, Bryan Terrell Clarke, Robert Cuccioli, Jon Jon Briones, and Greg Hildreth.

Only Make Believe is a nonprofit organization that creates and performs interactive theater for children in hospitals and care facilities. They are dedicated to the principle that freeing a child's imagination is a valuable part of the healing process. The group has served over 52,000 children since 1999 and has performed in over 55 hospitals and care facilities in the New York and D.C. Metro areas.
