Star Wars Actor Khan Bonfils Dies During Play Rehearsal

Bonfils collapsed while preparing for a run of ”Dante’s Inferno” in London.

British actor Khan Bonfils has died after collapsing Monday, January 5, during a rehearsal for an upcoming production of Dante's Inferno, which was set to open at London’s Rag Factory next week. Bonfils was unable to be resuscitated by paramedics. The cause of his death is currently unknown.

Bonfils appeared onstage in the London production of Miss Saigon at the Drury Lane Theatre and in The King and I at the London Palladium. His many film appearances include Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Tomb Raider 2, Batman Begins, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Skyfall.

Bonfils trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. He was also a practicing martial artist who studied Wing Chun Kung Fu and Yin Style Ba Gua Zhang.

Chris Hislop, spokesperson from Craft Theatre, which was producing Dante's Inferno, said in a statement, "The entire company are in shock. There is absolutely severe sadness, it is a real tragedy."
