Leslie Odom Jr. to Join Hope Boykin for Dance Piece Inspired by Speeches of Martin Luther King

The work will be presented at New York City Center.

Hamilton Tony winner Leslie Odom Jr. will join Alvin Ailey Dance Theater company member Hope Boykin for a new show inspired by the sermons and speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The large ensemble work, featuring storytelling, music by Ali Jackson, and historic writing narrated by Odom, is titled r-Evolution, Dream. and will take place on December 9 at New York City Center.

Along with his Tony, Odom won a 2015 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album as a principal soloist in the Hamilton original cast recording. He previously appeared on Broadway in Rent and Leap of Faith. He also had a regular role on the NBC series Smash.

Boykin is a is a three-time recipient of the American Dance Festival’s Young Tuition Scholarship. Most recently she choreographed Go in Grace with award-winning singing group Sweet Honey in the Rock for the Company's 50th anniversary season.
