In conjunction with the new Broadway revival of On the Town, theater district eatery Ellen's Stardust Diner hosted a reunion of New York City's former Miss Subways on October 1. During the luncheon, restaurant owner Ellen Hart, a former Miss Subways herself, helped crown On the Town cast member Megan Fairchild, the New York City Ballet star who takes on the role of Ivy Smith, the Miss Subways of 2014.

Miss Subways was an honorary title accorded to New York City women between 1941 and 1976, and their likenesses then appeared on posters placed on subway trains throughout the five boroughs. Nearly 200 women held the title during the program's 35-year run. In On the Town, the honor is parodied by book writers Betty Comden and Adolph Green as "Miss Turnstiles."
