The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Once will close up shop at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on January 4 after 22 previews and 1,167 performances. The show officially opened on March 18, 2012, after an off-Broadway run at New York Theatre Workshop.

With music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, and a book by Enda Walsh, Once is adapted from the 2007 Oscar-winning film of the same title and directed for the stage by John Tiffany. The show tells the story of Guy, an Irish musician who finds new inspiration when he meets Girl, a Czech woman who helps him discover his songs.

The original company was led by Steve Kazee, who won a Tony Award for his performance as Guy, and Cristin Milioti, who received a Tony nomination for her work as Girl. Subsequent replacements in the roles included Arthur Darvill, Paul Alexander Nolan, Joanna Christie, and Jessie Fisher.

Once currently features Nolan as Guy and Fisher as Girl. Also in the company are Laurel Griggs, David Patrick Kelly, Sophie Knapp, Katrina Lenk, Anne L. Nathan, Lucas Papaelias, Scott Stangland, Andy Taylor, Ryan Vona, Erikka Walsh, Paul Whitty, and J. Michael Zygo. The production features scenic and costume design by Bob Crowley, lighting design Natasha Katz, and sound design is by Clive Goodwin.

The West End mounting of Once, which opened in 2013 at London's Phoenix Theatre, will also end its run in 2015, with a closing date set for March 21. That production will then embark upon a European tour. The American touring company will play a multi-week engagement in Japan beginning in November. Productions in Sweden, Brazil, Holland, Greece, the Czech Republic, Thailand, Ireland, and Seoul, South Korea are also in the works.
