Something Rotten! Announces Broadway Closing Date

Something Rotten!, the new musical by Wayne Kirkpatrick, Karey Kirkpatrick, and John O'Farrell, has announced that it will end its run at Broadway's St. James Theatre on January 1, 2017. After beginning previews March 23 and opening April 22, the production will have played 742 performances.
A tribute to musical theater, Something Rotten! is set in 1590s England and follows Nick and Nigel Bottom, a pair of brothers desperate to write a play, but are stuck in the shadow of William Shakespeare. When they're told by a local soothsayer that the future of theater involves, singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, they set out to write the world's first musical. Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs the production, which received 10 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical.
Leading the original company were Tony Award winner Christian Borle (who earned his second career Tony for his performance as Shakespeare), Tony nominees Brian d'Arcy James (Nick Bottom), John Cariani (Nigel Bottom), Brad Oscar (Nostradamus), and Brooks Ashmanskas (Brother Jeremiah), Heidi Blickenstaff (Bea), Kate Reinders (Portia), Peter Bartlett (Lord Clapham/Master of the Justice), Gerry Vichi (Shylock), and Michael James Scott (Minstrel).
The current cast stars Tony nominee Rob McClure (Nick Bottom), Tony nominee Will Chase (Shakespeare), Josh Grisetti (Nigel Bottom), Leslie Kritzer (Bea), two-time Tony nominee Brad Oscar (Nostradamus), Catherine Brunell (Portia), David Beach (Brother Jeremiah), Edward Hibbert (Lord Clapham/Master of the Justice), Gerry Vichi (Shylock), and André Ward (Minstrel).
The U.S. national tour of Something Rotten! will officially launch January 17, 2017, at the Boston Opera House.
