Puppet Stephen Sondheim, Kurt Peterson, Liz Larsen, and More Celebrate Sondheimas

The master songwriter’s birthday was toasted with a concert that also featured Nikka Graff Lanzarone and Ariana DeBose, among others.

The birth of legendary Broadway songwriter Stephen Sondheim was celebrated on March 22 with the second annual Sondheimas concert, created and hosted by David Levy of the Tumblr blog F**k Yeah Stephen Sondheim, as well as Maggie Larkin. The evening featured performances by original Follies star Kurt Peterson, alongside Liz Larsen (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical), Ariana DeBose (Hamilton), Molly Pope (Found), George Abud (The Visit), Nikka Graff Lanzarone (Chicago), and Larry Owens (Fat Camp). Also on hand for the festivities were the Sondheimas Boys (made up of Sean Doherty, Matt Lummus, Mike Walsh, and Eric Williams) and a puppet version of Sondheim himself, created and performed by Scottie Rowell, among many others. Andrei Strizek served as musical director.
