The Civilians will premiere the new musical Pretty Filthy, inspired by the Los Angeles porn industry, at the Abrons Arts Center later this month. Performances are set to run from January 31-March 1, with an official opening scheduled for February 8.

The world-premiere production, directed by Steve Cosson, features music and lyrics by Michael Friedman and a book by Bess Wohl. Drawing on extensive interviews and research, The Civilians’ Pretty Filthy tells the stories of people trying to make a living in the adult-entertainment industry.

The cast features Alyse Alan Louis (Mamma Mia!), Luba Mason (Chicago), Steve Rosen (Spamalot), Marrick Smith (Fun Home), Maria-Christina Oliveras (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), and John Behlmann (Journey’s End).

The creative team for Pretty Filthy also includes Neil Patel (set design), Emily Rebholz (costume design), Justin Townsend (lighting design), Ken Travis (sound design), Darrel Maloney (projection design), Sam Pinkleton (choreographer), and Nathan Dame (music director).
