Rodgers & Hammerstein’s classic movie musical The King and I will return to theaters for two days this month as part of Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies' TCM Big Screen Classics series. Marking the film's 60th anniversary, the film will play on the big screen on August 28 and August 31.

Set to be screened in more than 650 movie theaters nationwide, the presentation will include specially produced commentary from TCM host Ben Mankiewicz before and after the feature.

The film, released by Twentieth Century Fox, was the winner of five Academy Awards and was nominated for four more. It takes place in 1862 Siam, where British schoolteacher and recent widow Anna Leonowens (Deborah Kerr) is stationed as a teacher for the royal children. Though Leonowens immediately clashes with the children's father, King Mongkut (Yul Brynner), over time, he slowly gains respect for her willingness to stand up to him.

The national tour of Lincoln Center Theater's Tony Award-winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I, directed by Bartlett Sher, will launch in Providence, RI in November.
