Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore to Receive 2016 Fred Ebb Award

The honor is bestowed by the Fred Ebb Foundation.

Musical-theater songwriters Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore have been awarded the 2016 Fred Ebb Award, the Fred Ebb Foundation and Roundabout Theatre Company have announced. The honor will be presented by Broadway vets Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley on Monday, November 28, at the American Airlines Theatre.

Mizer and Moore are the authors of the romantic musical mystery Triangle, which premiered in 2015 at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley. Their other works include The Legend of Stagecoach Mary and The Bus to Buenos Aires, among others hows. Moore, also the author of the musical Venice, has composed the scores for Nora Ephron's Lucky Guy and the Sam Mendes production of Richard III, starring Kevin Spacey. Mizner, a copywriter for brands including Comedy Central and Food Network, starred as Steve in the original production of Blue's Clues, Live!

The Fred Ebb Award recognizes excellence in musical-theater songwriting, by a songwriter or songwriting team that has not yet achieved significant commercial success. The award, which is meant to encourage and support aspiring songwriters to create new works for the musical theatre, comes with a $60,000 prize and a one-night concert.
