Ugly Lies The Bone, a new play by Lindsey Ferrentino, is the latest world premiere production of Roundabout Theatre Company's Roundabout Underground. Directed by Patricia McGregor, the drama will begin performances at the Black Box Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre on September 10.

The first-ever recipient of a Special Citation of Excellence from The Laurents/Hatcher Foundation, Ugly Lies the Bone tells the story of Jess, a newly discharged soldier who returns to her Florida hometown and begins to use a virtual-reality video game to help combat the physical and emotional scars of her three tours in Afghanistan.

Full casting, creative team, and dates will be announced in the coming months.

Ugly Lies the Bone launches the ninth season of Roundabout Underground, an initiative to introduce and cultivate artists in Roundabout’s 62-seat Black Box Theatre. Prior productions include Stephen Karam's Speech & Debate, Kim Rosenstock's Tigers Be Still, David West Read's The Dream of the Burning Boy, Joshua Harmon's Bad Jews, and Jeff Augustin’s Little Children Dream of God , which is currently running.
