The cast of Broadway's Aladdin will perform for First Lady Michelle Obama and her guests at the White House for the Kids State Dinner this afternoon. The event will take place around 12:30pm ET and will be streamed live here: http://wh.gov/live.

For the dinner, First Lady Michelle Obama teamed up with WGBH Boston, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to host the fourth-annual Healthy Lunchtime Challenge, which promotes cooking and healthy eating among young people across the nation. The challenge invited kids ages 8-12 to join a parent or guardian in creating an original recipe that is healthy, affordable, and delicious. One winner from each U.S. state, territory, and the District of Columbia was selected, and all were invited to attend the 2015 Kids’ "State Dinner" along with a parent or guardian.

Based on the 1992 Disney animated film, Aladdin opened on Broadway on March 20, 2014, at the New Amsterdam Theatre. The production currently stars Adam Jacobs as Aladdin, Courtney Reed as Jasmine, and Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie.
