After taking on Broadway in 2014, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Woody Allen is stretching himself once again. This time, he's making a TV show.

Allen will create his first-ever television series for Amazon Studios, with a full season of episodes airing next year via Amazon's Prime Instant Video. The plot of the as-yet-untitled half-hour series is being kept under wraps.

In 2014, Allen received a Tony Award nomination for the book of his short-lived musical Bullets Over Broadway. He has been honored with 24 Oscar nominations, and most recently won Best Original Screenplay for his film Midnight in Paris.

"Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series," Roy Price, vice president of Amazon Studios, said in a statement. "From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year."

Allen added, "I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this."
