Lee Pace, Ari Graynor, and More Join Powerhouse Theater Lineup

Broadway’s ”Hamilton” is among the works to come out of the summer program.

Vassar and New York Stage and Film has announced additional casting for its 31st Powerhouse Season, now under way in Poughkeepsie, New York, and running through August 2.

The lineup of readings, workshops, and main stage productions will now include Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee Lee Pace (Pushing Daises), Emmy Award winner Kevin Mambo (Fortress of Solitude), Ari Graynor (The Sopranos), Jason Kravits (The Practice), Tony nominee Nancy Opel (Honeymoon in Vegas), Theo Stockman (American Idiot), Christy Altomare (Mamma Mia!), Cassie Beck (Picnic), Lilli Cooper (Wicked), Sarah Litzsinger (Disaster!), and Samantha Ware (Glee).

The season includes productions of the Debate Society's The Light Years (July 23-August 2), written by Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, and Noir (July 31-August 2), featuring a book by Kyle Jarrow, music by Duncan Sheik, and lyrics by Jarrow and Sheik. Powerhouse Theater's Reading Festival will also run from July 31-August 2.

Powerhouse Theater is a collaboration between New York Stage and Film and Vassar College dedicated to both emerging and established artists in the development and production of new works for theater and film. The Powerhouse program consists of an eight-week residency on the Vassar campus during which more than 250 professional artists and 50 apprentices in the Powerhouse Training Program live and work together to create new theater works. Recent works that have been developed at Powerhouse include the hit Broadway musical Hamilton; Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's original musical Bright Star; Itamar Moses, Michael Friedman and Daniel Aukin’s The Fortress of Solitude; and Richard Greenberg’s The Babylon Line.
