Obie Award Winner Harold Gould Dies at 86

Stage and screen actor Harold Gould died on Saturday, September 11 from prostate cancer, according to The New York Times. He was 86 years old.

Gould appeared in four Broadway shows: Fools, Grown Ups, Artist Descending a Staircase, and Mixed Emotions. He won an Obie Award for his work in the 1970 play The Increased Difficulty of Concentration, and his other stage credits include King Lear, Touching Bottom, and The House of Blue Leaves.

The actor worked consistently in film and television; he earned five Emmy Award nominations, for his work in Rhoda, Police Story, The Ray Bradbury Theatre,
The Scarlett O’Hara War
, and Mrs. Delafeld Wants to Marry. His many other credits include The Sting, Love and Death, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and The Golden Girls.

He is survived by his wife Lea; his children, Debra, Joshua, and Lowell; and five grandchildren.
